Shower Head Descaling
Shower heads including hoses are required to be kept clean as scale that accumulates can harbour and nurture bacteria, and when used they cause large amount of droplets and aerosol which are readily breathable. Cleaning and disinfecting showerheads on a regular basis removes both the nutrients and habitat required by bacteria, thus minimising the risk of ny legionella bacteria which may be present in the water from multiplying.
Following the guidance in HSE (L8) Approved Code of Practice and Guidance.
( Legionnaires' disease - The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems), quarterly cleaning of showerheads should take place as part of any effective management system. Cleaning and disinfection is a fundamental component of controlling Legionella bacteria and should be a central part of a suitable and sufficient management system.
Direct-Water can carry out programmed cleaning disinfection and descaling of shower heads and hoses, to remove both the habitat and nutrients required by bacteria, minimising the risk of colonisation by Legionella.
